What is Reiki
The Japanese word Reiki, pronounced Ray-Key, means Universal Life Force. Reiki also refers to a system of hands-on-healing rediscovered in the 19^th century Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui. This knowledge rediscovered by Dr. Usui has been handed down from Reiki Master to Reiki Master since Dr. Usui’s passing.  Reiki is transferred to the student by a Reiki Master/Teacher through an attunement process. The attunement opens up energy pathways in the student allowing him or her to work with the Reiki energy.  Each Reiki Practitioner has a lineage, the succession of Reiki Teachers that trace them back to the founder of their "branch" of Reiki.

Reiki treats the whole person and creates many beneficial effects including relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being.  It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady, always creating a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
